Judge Carl W. McCalla, III Joins Constangy's
Expanding Workers' Compensation Practice

Atlanta, GA - Judge Carl W. McCalla, III, Lead Administrative Law Judge in the State Board of Workers’ Compensation’s Metropolitan Atlanta office, has joined Constangy, Brooks & Smith’s expanding workers’ compensation defense practice, as a member.

McCalla began practicing law as an insurance defense litigator with an Atlanta firm and soon focused his practice on defending workers’ compensation claims. In 1996, McCalla managed his own practice, in the areas of workers compensation and employment law on behalf of both employers and employees. He was appointed as an Administrative Law Judge for the State Board of Workers Compensation in May of 2000.

“His 15 years of experience, thousands of trials over which he presided as a judge and litigated when he was in practice, and his reputation and skill set will be a tremendous asset to the firm,” said Eric Proser, Department Head of Constangy’s workers’ compensation practice. “We are proud to call him our partner.”

McCalla frequently speaks to lawyers about trial strategies and professionalism at seminars around the state and to primary and secondary students about career-related issues.

McCalla is a 1990 graduate of Duke University and a 1993 graduate of the Emory University School of Law. While at Emory, he received honors which included serving as a member of the school’s National Moot Court team, the Order of the Barristers and the American Inns of Court.
