March 3, 2008 University of Kansas School of Law Student Awarded Annual Diversity Scholars Award Kansas City, MO - Constangy, Brooks & Smith, LLC proudly presented its annual 2008 Diversity Scholars Award to University of Kansas School of Law student Anatoly Gakenberg. Gakenberg, a second-year law student, received a $2,000 scholarship. Constangy initiated the award program in order to recognize the achievements of deserving law students and help defray the considerable expense of law school, while promoting diversity in the legal profession. The firm awards scholarships to a second-year law student in each of the regions where it has offices. Award recipients were selected based on the following criteria: academic achievement; commitment to diversity in the community, in the student’s school or work environment; and personal achievement in overcoming challenges to reach goals. Gakenberg is a native of Yaroslavl, Russia. Before coming to America, he was licensed to practice law in both Russia and Israeli. Now a student of American law, Gakenberg is also founder and vice president of the Global Lawyers Society where he advocates the interest of foreign educated law students.
