CORPORATE COUNSEL WORK-LIFE BALANCE AWARD
PRESENTED BY CONSTANGY, BROOKS & SMITH, LLC

Honoring in-house legal departments that promote, support and cultivate work-life balance.

ATLANTA – As work and professional demands result in longer and longer work weeks making it difficult for employees to take care of family and personal needs, many companies are cultivating an atmosphere that allows for a better work-life balance. Constangy, Brooks & Smith, in recognition of its 60th anniversary, presents its first annual Corporate Counsel Work-Life Balance award to recognize those employers who have implemented successful strategies to assist their in-house attorneys in pursuit of work-life balance.

In Pursuit of Attorney Work-Life Balance: Best Practices in Management (2005), a study conducted by The National Association for Law Placement (NALP) Foundation, more than 75% of supervised attorneys report having moderate to major problems in meeting their personal/health needs. More than 70% of them also report having problems in handling family needs, household responsibilities, and finding time for leisure activities.

“ In-house legal departments are implementing a range of programs to help create an atmosphere that fosters work-life balance,” says Neil Wasser, Chairman of Constangy’s Executive Committee. “Initiatives include reduced-hours work arrangements, flexible career tracks and “firm sponsored” fitness programs. We look forward to learning what other things companies have implemented in-house.”

The Corporate Counsel Work-Life Balance Award is designed to recognize an outstanding in-house legal department committed to work-life balance. The winning company will receive a crystal trophy; in addition, Constangy will donate $1,000 in the department’s name to the nonprofit organization of its choice. To nominate your company’s legal department, go to www.constangy.com and click on Award Nomination. Deadline for nominations is Friday, July 28, 2006.
