Traditional Labor Attorney, Clifford H. Nelson, Jr., Leaves Firm to Join Constangy, Brooks & Smith, LLC



Atlanta (June 10, 2005) – Thirty-year traditional labor lawyer veteran, Clifford H. Nelson, Jr., joins Constangy, Brooks and Smith, LLC as a member (partner).  Nelson is a former senior partner at the management labor and employment law firm of Wimberly, Lawson, Steckel, Nelson & Schneider, P.C., where he practiced for 16 years. 

“Constangy, Brooks and Smith, has a rich history and an emerging national practice, which will allow me to reach a broader platform,” said Nelson.  “With Constangy’s resources in OSHA, ERISA and other specialty practice areas, I can better service my clients and increase my traditional labor law practice.”

Nelson has handled cases before both the National Labor Relations Board and the courts. His principal practice areas are union avoidance consulting and campaigns, NLRB litigation and union negotiations and arbitration.  Nelson, a hard charger, enjoys bouncing from one crisis to another and is known to take on both controversial and tough cases.

“Cliff is a tremendous addition to the firm with his depth of experience in labor law,” said Lee Boeke,chairman of Constangy’s executive committee.  “We will look to Cliff to help grow the firm’s health care practice and work in the service sector.”

Nelson’s entire client base of national and regional companies accompanied him to Constangy, Brooks and Smith.  Clients range from HCR Manor Care, a leading long-term health care provider with facilities across the country, to Lamar Advertising Company, one of the largest outdoor advertising organizations in the United States.

Nelson brought Leigh E. Tyson with him to Constangy, Brooks and Smith.  Tyson, an associate, has served Nelson’s clients for three years.
