Constangy, Brooks & Smith, LLC Welcomes New Associates to the Jacksonville, Fla. Office


Jacksonville, Fla. (June 10, 2005) - Constangy, Brooks and Smith LLC, a labor and employment law firm with offices in Jacksonville, Fla., announces the addition of three new attorneys.  Florida natives, Lori K. Mans, Rupesh J. Patel and Georgia native Melanie Lastrapes, all join the firm as associates.

Mans is a 2004 magna cum laude graduate of the University of Florida, where she was a board member of the university’s Journal of Law and Public Policy and received the Barbara W. Makar Writing Award.  She joins Constangy’s employment litigation practice, where her primary focus will include representing management in state and federal court.  Mans is admitted to the State Bar of Florida.  Her undergraduate degree was earned at the University of North Florida. 

Patel joins Constangy’s employment law and litigation practice, the firm’s largest practice group.  He will assist with counseling and representing management in state and federal court.  Patel is admitted to the State Bar of Florida and the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida.  Patel is a graduate of the University of Florida for both his J.D. and undergraduate degrees. 

Lastrapes is a 2005 graduate of Georgia State University, where she received honors in litigation and appellate advocacy.  Lastrapes practices in all areas of labor and employment law.  She will be assisting clients with resolving difficult human resources issues before they reach the level of a claim, charge or litigation.  Prior to joining Constangy, Lastrapes interned with the Georgia Supreme Court under the direction of Honorable Justice, Robert Benham and with the City of Atlanta Law Department.  Her undergraduate degree was earned at Emory University.  Lastrapes currently volunteers as a youth basketball coach at the Amateur Athletic Union.
