STEVEN G. HOPKINS TO THE ATLANTA OFFICE
ATLANTA, GEORGIA (November 29,
2005) - Michael Blumenthal has been named head of the Kansas City
office of Constangy, Brooks and Smith, LLC. Blumenthal, a well-known
employment law attorney in the Kansas City area, was one of the
original lawyers who opened Constangy’s Kansas City office
in January 2000.
Blumenthal will be responsible for managing the office’s
12 labor and employment lawyers and human resources consultants. “With
the increase in employment litigation and rise in union activity
affecting business, our office is well-suited to work with our
firm’s clients throughout the Heartland to help them comply
with the complex web of laws regulating the workplace,” said
Blumenthal. “It is my goal to make sure that Constangy’s
Kansas City office continues its reputation as the premier labor
and employment law practice group in Kansas City.”
Robert “Bob” Janowitz lead the Kansas City office since
its opening and was instrumental in its growth and success. After
practicing labor and employment law exclusively for more than 35
years, Janowitz will continue working full time as a managing member
(partner) and will continue to teach labor law at the University
of Missouri – Kansas City Law School, where he has taught
for more than 25 years. “Every successful business has to
have a viable successorship plan. Fortunately, our firm, and especially
our Kansas City office, has the talent and leadership to insure
our continued success. I know that Mike has the full support of
everyone in the Kansas City office and the entire firm,” said
Janowitz.

Mike began his legal career with Constangy as an associate in our
Atlanta office before returning to his hometown of Kansas City.
We were thrilled when Mike helped open our Kansas City office and
we are proud that he has risen to a such an important leadership
position in the firm,” said Lee Boeke, chairman of Constangy’s
executive committee.
Blumenthal is currently serving as President of the Human Resource
Management Association of Johnson County, he is a member of the
Heartland Labor & Employment Law Institute, and he is an active
member of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association. When not
practicing law, Blumenthal trains as a third degree black belt
in karate and spends time with his wife and six-year old daughter.
