ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES AND CONSTANGY, BROOKS & SMITH, LLC TO HOST “DON’T LET CHANGE TO WIN DEFEAT YOUR COMPANY” WORKSHOPS FOR EMPLOYERS ON THE POSSIBLE IMPACT OF ORGANIZING EFFORTS OF CHANGE TO WIN

KANSAS CITY, MO. (October 13, 2005) - Delegates at the first Change to Win’s convention in September made their mission clear – to focus on organizing and radically changing the union structure that has been in place since the 1970s. How will those changes impact Missouri business? It’s top-of-mind for Associated Industries of Missouri (AIM) and Constangy, Brooks & Smith, LLC. Together AIM and Constangy will host a conference November 18 starting at 8 a.m. to noon, providing a prospective of how Change to Win will effect employers/employees/union relationships.

The Change to Win coalition that broke from the AFL-CIO earlier this year consists of the Teamsters, SEIU, UFCW, UNITE HERE, the Laborers, the Carpenters and the United Farm Workers, all know for their massive size and aggressiveness. The motivation for the split from the AFL-CIO was to dedicate more funds and effort to organizing.

WHAT: “Don’t Let Change to Win Defeat Your Company” Workshop

WHEN: November 18, 2005, 8 a.m. to noon

WHERE: Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, Mo.

WHY: To address what Kansas City, Mo. employers should expect from the dramatic change in the union structure
