Kansas City, Missouri (October 26, 2006) - Constangy, Brooks & Smith, LLC, a national labor and employment law firm representing management, proudly announces managing members (equity partners) Michael L. Blumenthal and Robert J. Janowitz have been selected as 2006 Missouri/Kansas Super Lawyers. 

Only five percent of attorneys receive this honor each year.  Attorneys included in Super Lawyers are selected based on the quantity and quality of nominations they received from other attorneys in their communities.

Blumenthal, office head for the Kansas City office, is responsible for managing the office’s 12 labor and employment lawyers and human resources consultants in addition to his practice.  Since graduating from law school, his entire career has been devoted exclusively to representing employers in employment litigation and advising management on a full range of workplace legal issues.  Blumenthal has particular expertise investigating and defending employment discrimination and harassment claims, he works with clients to proactively prevent these types of claims from occurring.

Janowitz specializes in every aspect of proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).  He has defended cases involving union organizing, collective bargaining, single/joint employer status, successor-ship, discrimination, healthcare bargaining units and cessation of operation.  He also serves as chief negotiator in complex negotiations for initial and successor labor agreements in many industries including healthcare, transportation, warehousing, construction, hospitality, retail, entertainment and manufacturing.  Prior to opening the firm’s Kansas City, MO. office in 1999, Janowitz was a partner with the law firm of Shook, Hardy & Bacon, LLP, where he served as Chair Labor/Employment Section.  Before entering private practice, Janowitz served as regional attorney for the NLRB.
