How Healthy Is Your Company Wellness
Program:
A Check-Up Under the New Final Regulations
Wellness programs help employees feel and work better, and they
help companies control medical costs. So it pays to make
sure that your wellness program is in good health - and if you
don't have a program, maybe it's time to start one! After
six years of study and public input, the U.S. Department of Labor,
Employee Benefits Security Administration, recently issued final
regulations on the design and operation of employer-sponsored
wellness programs. These final regulations became effective
on February 12, 2007, and will apply to plan years beginning
on or after July 1, 2007. In short, the regulations are
important and you need to know their requirements.
Please join us in Winston-Salem on Thursday, May 3, 2007, when
Brian Magargle of Constangy, Brooks & Smith, LLC presents a
seminar to analyze and discuss the new regulations. Brian
will address key areas of compliance and implementation, such as
the rewards a wellness program offers, how it should be designed,
and which employees may be targeted to participate. Examples
of programs aimed at the following specific health goals will also
be included:
- Cholesterol
reduction.
- Weight
loss and Reduction of Body Mass Index (BMI)
- Cardiovascular
issues.
In addition to explaining the new regulations, Brian
will answer frequently asked questions, such as:
- What
forms of benefits are and are not subject to the new final regulations?
- How
much of a reward may participants receive?
- What
about employees who cannot meet program goals?
- What
about employees who refuse to participate?
