Labor & Employment Practices Group

Constangy, Brooks & Smith, LLC began practice well over 50 years ago as its founder Frank Constangy explored the post-war economic labor relations landscape created by the National Labor Relations Act and the Taft-Hartley Amendments which govern the relationship between labor unions and employers.

Today, the firm's lawyers consist of men and women with collective experience gained as attorneys with the National Labor Relations Board, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the U.S. Department of Labor and as private practitioners representing the interests of employers in dealing with labor unions. Preventive labor relations has long been one of the firm's focal points.  Emphasis is on legal methods for building and maintaining a positive employee relations environment so union organizing efforts are relatively less likely to be successful.  Where unions exist, the firm's attorneys draw on a vast collective reservoir of experience in organizing campaigns, labor negotiations, arbitrations and decertification efforts.
