Advanced Executive Briefing - Jacksonville, Florida

1/2 day program for Upper Level Executives and Administrators
March 17, 2010

The ever-changing labor and employment laws have a significant impact on every organization.  With knowledge and proper planning, a company or governmental entity can minimize the risks and liabilities associated with these laws and position itself to best counteract the impact that may result therefrom.  This half-day program is designed for upper level executives and administrators, with the goal of providing cutting-edge labor and employment law information.  During this program, we will discuss important trends in labor and employment law that must be known and understood at the highest levels of an organization.  We will also discuss strategies for positioning an organization to defeat or minimize the negative consequences of these ever-changing laws and the lawsuits and other challenges that can result.

1:30-2:40 p.m.                        Advanced Benefits Issues

In benefits planning and administration the stakes are high.  Benefit plan sponsors risk disqualification of their plans, litigation, and civil and criminal penalties.  In this session, we will review the most common mistakes of employers in this area and offer practical solutions for mitigating liability.

2:45-3:45 p.m.                        Business Ethics

With the recent conviction of Bernie Madoff, the topic of business ethics is once again headline news.  However, issues of corporate governance and ethical business practices are nothing new and they are not limited to only Fortune 500 companies.  In this portion of the briefing, we will discuss how employers can implement ethical business practices and avoid potential civil and criminal liability.

During this roundtable discussion, we will discuss steps that CEOs, administrators, and other upper level officials should implement to best position an employer to minimize EEO problems, unionizing attempts, and liability should employment litigation develop. Attendees will learn from one another and share their experiences and advice during this moderated discussion.
