Continuing Education: This program is pending for 1.0 HRCI and SHRM credit.

Although the Fair Labor Standards Act is one of the nation’s oldest labor laws, it is also one that employers have trouble understanding and frequently violate. When violations occur, employers frequently face: (1) audits by the Wage and Hour Division of the U.S. Department of Labor (“DOL”), and are required to pay civil money penalties to the government, as well as unpaid wages to their employees, or (2) civil lawsuits in which not only monetary damages for unpaid wages can be recovered, but also liquidated damages and attorney’s fees can be awarded to the prevailing employees.

Join Constangy attorneys, Damon Kitchen and Joseph Mackey as they will be discussing the following subjects:

  • The Current Federal and Florida Minimum Wages
  • Exemptions from the Overtime Pay Requirements Applicable to White Collar Employees
  • How to Calculate an Employee’s Regular Rate
  • How to Convert Salaried Employees to Hourly Paid Employees
  • How to Address Compensation for Remote Workers
  • When, and under What Circumstances, Must Travel Time and On-Call Time Be Paid
  • Proper and Improper Payroll Deductions
