Heather A. Owen is Board Certified in labor and employment law and counsels employers in employment matters with a focus on problem solving, litigation prevention, risk reduction and legal analysis of complex employment issues. When matters escalate to litigation, she has successfully defended employers in all areas of employment law, including claims of unlawful discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliatory discharge, disability and Family and Medical Leave Act violations, wage and hour and equal pay violations, as well as cases involving claims of defamation, invasion of privacy, negligent hiring, retention and supervision, intentional infliction of emotional distress, fraud, and breach of contract. Heather also has experience in representing clients in traditional labor law matters, such as defending unfair labor practice charges and opposing union organizing campaigns. Heather is a frequent lecturer and presenter providing in-house supervisor training to human resource directors, managers and small business owners, as well as employment law seminars to industry, civic and legal organizations.
