ATLANTA – May 14, 2018 – The following statement is from Neil H. Wasser, chair of the executive committee of Constangy, Brooks, Smith & Prophete, LLP:

“The attorneys and staff of Constangy, Brooks, Smith & Prophete are deeply saddened by the unexpected loss of our friend and colleague, Julius Turman.

Julius’ hard work, mentorship, passion, and dedication to his office and coworkers, our firm, and the community will be sincerely missed. He displayed all of those characteristics during the far too short time that he was with us. Julius was a strong voice both within and outside of our firm, and was always willing to become personally invested in finding solutions to problems. Julius’ generosity and devotion to his family, friends, clients, coworkers and the community will never be forgotten.

During his tenure, Julius opened, grew and led Constangy’s San Francisco office. While at Constangy and throughout his career, Julius championed diversity in hiring and leadership. He was a brilliant attorney, with strong convictions, and was a fearless leader.

Not only was Julius a dedicated member of the firm, his support for his community was unparalleled. Julius was the past President of the San Francisco Police Commission, helping to write and revise rules for the city’s use of force policies and body-worn cameras. Julius was also deeply committed to LGBT rights, serving as Co-Chair of the Alice B. Toklas LGBT Democratic Club.

We offer our heartfelt condolences to Julius’ friends and family during this difficult time.”
