In the News: Robin Shea Publishes Article with Law360 on Dementia in the Workplace 

Constangy partner Robin Shea published an article with Law360 entitled "4 Steps To Navigating Employee Dementia With Care."

In the article, Robin offers strategies for approaching employees whose performance has suffered due to cognitive illness, such as dementia. Handling such employees requires a careful combination of compassion and awareness to ensure that difficult decisions do not lead to potential claims of disability discrimination. Robin recommends a four-step approach to approaching employees who may be dealing with cognitive illness, which includes helping them understand the options and benefits available to them, allowing the employee to ask questions, and keeping the employee informed on the status of any claims or follow-up steps.

Robin has more than 30 years' experience counseling employers and representing them before government agencies and in employment litigation involving Title VII and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act, the Equal Pay Act, and the Family and Medical Leave Act, as well as similar state laws. She also conducts training for human resources professionals, management, and employees on a wide variety of topics.
