Overview

James (Jimmy) is a member of the Constangy Cyber Team and is based in Rochester, New York. He manages responses to data security incidents for clients in various industries with diverse sizes and complexities. He brings over seven years of experience helping clients navigate cybersecurity and data privacy matters, including ransomware, complex business email platform compromises, and fraudulent wire transfers. Prior to joining the Constangy Cyber Team, Jimmy worked as a senior partner at a boutique incident response firm and as a partner at an AmLaw 200 firm, where he led the incident response team. In managing responses to data security incidents, he advises clients on consumer and regulatory notification obligations and provides guidance in their crisis communications. 

Jimmy earned his Juris Doctor magna cum laude from the University of Notre Dame Law School, a Master of Arts in Political Philosophy from the University of York in England, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Philosophy magna cum laude from the University of Rochester. He also holds the CIPP/US credential. Throughout his legal career, Jimmy has been recognized by local and national organizations for his contributions. He was named a “Rising Star” by SuperLawyers for seven straight years, won the “Outstanding Young Lawyer Award” from the New York State Bar Association, and was named a member of the “40 Under 40” by the Rochester Business Journal.

He is an active member in his local legal community, particularly with advancing technology and diversity in the legal profession. He serves on the New York State Supreme Court Civil Electronic Filing Advisory Committee, the Technology Working Group of the Commission to Reimagine the Future of New York’s Courts, and the Advisory Group to the New York State-Federal Judicial Council. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor at the Rochester Institute of Technology, where he teaches a course in Cybersecurity Policy and Law.
