AUSTIN – National labor and employment law firm Constangy welcomes Laurianne Balkum to its Austin office as an associate. She focuses her practice in employment law, with an emphasis on litigation prevention and defense. Her practice also includes work in employee benefits, and wage and hour law.
Balkum has experience in representing employers and management in employment litigation cases including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, breach of contract disputes, ERISA claims, FMLA and FLSA violations, as well as negligence claims. As a clerk for the Houston civil district court, Balkum gained vast experience working on a broad range of civil cases, including labor and employment, medical malpractice, negligence, fraud, and breach of contract issues.
A graduate of Baylor Law School, Balkum was a member of Baylor Law’s Order of Barristers and had the privilege of competing on four of Baylor Law’s mock trial teams, including two selections as part of the ABA Labor Law mock trial team. She received her undergraduate degree from Houston Baptist University, where she majored in English, Speech Communications and Psychology, graduating with honors.
