Mercer Law Student Honored

ATLANTA – National labor and employment law firm, Constangy, Brooks, Smith & Prophete, LLP, is pleased to announce the winner of its 2015 Diversity Scholars Award. Selected from the regions in which the firm has offices, this year’s winner is Ebony Jervonne’ Brown.

A student at Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law and member of the Mercer Law Review, Ms. Brown is an active member of Mercer’s Black Law Students Association. In her first year, she participated in the association’s “Talented Tenth” program, which helps minority students reach a goal of being in the top 10% of their law school class. Achieving that goal, she now serves as a tutor and mentor to younger students and helped to create an academic stipend to ease the financial burden for participating students.  Ms. Brown also works with children in the community as a Motivating Macon Youth Mentor.

Ms. Brown is a native of Jacksonville, Fla. and received her undergraduate degree from Howard University.  She has also served as an intern for the Domestic Relations Branch of the Washington, DC Superior Court.

The recipient of the Constangy Diversity Scholars Award receives a $2,000 scholarship in recognition of his or her accomplishments in academics, commitment to diversity in the community, school or work environment, and personal achievement in overcoming challenges to reach his or her goals. Constangy initiated the award program to recognize deserving law students and help defray the considerable expense of law school, while promoting diversity in the legal profession.

To be eligible, applicants must be a second-year student with a 3.0 GPA or greater, enrolled in an accredited law school that is located in one of the following states: Alabama, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin or the District of Columbia.
