Overview

Colin is a labor and employment attorney who represents and counsels employers on a wide range of traditional labor and employment matters.

He advises clients across the country on union organizing campaigns, unfair labor practice charges, union awareness training, arbitrations, and contract negotiations. Colin helps employers develop practical, goal-oriented labor relations strategies that support overall business objectives, with experience spanning industries such as construction, health care, manufacturing, retail and hospitality, and transportation.

In addition to his labor practice, Colin defends employers against claims under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Titles III and VII of the Civil Rights Act, OSHA, and state discrimination laws in Missouri, Kansas, and Nebraska. He guides clients through all phases of litigation in state and federal courts, from investigation to trial. Colin also works proactively with employers on employment policies and handbooks, hiring and firing decisions, drug testing policies, and strategies for litigation avoidance, providing clear, practical guidance on compliance with federal and state employment laws.

Before joining Constangy, Colin practiced at an AmLaw 100 firm, representing clients in labor relations and employment matters. He is active in the American Bar Association's Labor and Employment Law Section and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association. Colin regularly speaks to industry groups on topics such as union dynamics, employee handbooks, NLRB compliance, social media policies, and evolving labor and employment law trends.
