BREAKING: Trump nominee for EEOC withdraws from consideration

After a year and a half in limbo, Daniel Gade has apparently had enough.

Daniel Gade, one of President Trump's nominees for Commissioner at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, has voluntary withdrawn from consideration.

The nomination of Dr. Gade, a disabled veteran, and the President's nominees Janet Dhillon as Chair, and Sharon Fast Gustafson as General Counsel, have been held up for seemingly forever. The problem is reportedly that Sens. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Mike Lee (R-Utah) oppose the President's nomination of Commissioner Chai Feldblum -- originally an Obama appointee who favors LGBT rights -- for a third term. The Senators' opposition to Commissioner Feldblum's renomination is delaying all of the other confirmations.

The nominations of Ms. Dhillon and Dr. Gade have been pending since the summer of 2017.

Dr. Gade is apparently fed up. (I feel his pain.) According to an article last night in Bloomberg BNA's Daily Labor Report, he said, "I will say that the EEOC is an absolutely critical agency in protecting workers' rights and enforcing the law. . . . [the Senate needs to] "get nominees approved and serving so that the agency can continue this critical work."

Dr. Gade will take a faculty position at American University in Washington, D.C.

The university's gain is our loss.
