The U.S. Senate will hold its confirmation vote on Judge Amy Coney Barrett next Thursday, October 22. UPDATE (10/21/20): The vote will be Monday, October 26.

Judge Barrett, currently serving on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, was nominated by President Trump to fill the vacant Supreme Court seat held by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who died September 18.

The vote on Judge Barrett is expected to divide along party lines, for the most part. With a Republican majority in the Senate, Judge Barrett's confirmation is close to a sure thing.
