Constangy attorneys Elysia Analo and Sarah Phaff presented a webinar on managing employee leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on Oct. 10. SHRM and HRCI credits were offered for this webinar.

In this session, Elysia and Sarah reviewed the FMLA basics and the interplay of the FMLA and the Americans with Disabilities Act, as well as explored best practices and suggestions for addressing potential leave abuse.

Elysia represents and advises employers in all aspects of employment law. Her experience includes representing employers in state and federal courts and before various administrative agencies in litigation involving claims of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, wage and hour violations, and other statutory and common-law claims arising from the employment relationship. Additionally, Elysia has deep experience counseling clients regarding day-to-day employment decisions and issues, such as employee discipline, terminations, severance, FMLA and other leave laws, disability accommodations, and COVID-19-related workplace concerns. She provides employers with practical and business-forward advice on critical human resources issues, with an emphasis on preventive litigation practices and implementing policies and best practices that avoid workplace disputes and resolve employee relations problems.

Sarah practices in all areas of employment and labor law, including defending employers in actions brought in state and federal court under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and other state and federal laws. Sarah regularly counsels and guides clients on employee relations issues, seeking practical legal solutions that are the best fit for a particular client. Sarah also conducts training on a variety of topics, including litigation prevention, harassment, discrimination, leave issues, employment policies, investigations, documentation, and best practices for employers.
