Constangy Presents 2018 Excellence in Work-Life Balance Award to Zurich North America
ATLANTA –September 27, 2018 – National labor and employment law firm Constangy, Brooks, Smith & Prophete, LLP recently presented its 2017-2018 Excellence in Work-Life Balance Award to Zurich North America. Constangy’s program recognizes organizations that actively initiate and create work environments conducive to work-life balance.
Work-life balance programs, through applications such as flexible work arrangements, employee wellness programs, telecommuting and job-sharing, can help employees feel truly connected to their companies, fostering loyalty, mutual respect and a positive work environment. Researchers Jeffrey Greenhaus and Gary Powell recommend that work and personal life should be allies and that participation in multiple roles, such as parent, partner, friend, employee, can enhance physical and psychological well-being — especially when all the roles are high quality and managed together.
An independent judge selected Zurich North America as this year’s winner of the Constangy award because of their FlexWork initiative, a comprehensive program designed to provide the work/life tools that matter most to employees. “FlexWork has the hallmarks of an effective program: support from the top, connection to business objectives, training, efforts to reduce flexibility stigma, a variety of flexible work options, and strategic implementation to ensure success.”

The judge for this year’s Work-Life Balance Award program was Cynthia Calvert, President of Workforce 21C, a company that provides consulting and training to help employers meet the challenges of today’s changing workforce.
Zurich North America received a commemorative crystal trophy and Constangy $1,000 donation on Zurich's behalf to Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley, Illinois.
