Constangy Presents Webinar on Colorado Data Privacy Laws

Constangy attorneys Jordan Fischer and Julie Keersmaekers presented a webinar on July 13 providing an overview of the Colorado Privacy Act and the Colorado Privacy Act Rules.

In the webinar, attendees learned about operationalizing Colorado requirements within their organization, Colorado-specific requirements and nuances, and how Colorado fits into the larger state privacy law landscape.

Jordan is a member of the Constangy Cyber Team and brings substantial expertise and leadership to the provision of compliance advisory services. With her extensive experience in the global intersection of law and technology, Jordan works to continually evaluate and assess legal and business opportunities and risks in order to provide public and private sector clients with vital data privacy and cybersecurity counsel and business strategic advice. She advises clients on a variety of regulations, including but not limited to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)/California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and the Driver’s Privacy Protection Act (DPPA). Additionally, she has experience with biometric data laws, global data breach standards, and federal and state unfair business practices acts and privacy frameworks such as International Standards Organization (ISO) 27001 and 27701, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and the Payment Credit Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).

Julie is a member of the Constangy Cyber Team based in the Denver office. Julie assists clients in creating and tailoring their data privacy and security programs to achieve compliance and manage risk. Julie conducts privacy program audits and gap analyses, develops policies and procedures, negotiates and drafts agreements, and trains executives, compliance personnel and other workforce members on data privacy and cyber incident readiness. Using business-centered and creative solutions to privacy issues, Julie serves as a practical and trusted advisor to clients on a wide variety of state, federal and international laws and regulations such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), the Telephone Consumer Privacy Act (TCPA), the Colorado Privacy Act (CPA), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA). In addition, Julie counsels clients in all facets of security incident response, coaching clients through cyber-related crises from discovery to resolution and remediation, and representing clients in resulting regulatory investigations and pre-litigation matters.
