National labor and employment law firm Constangy, Brooks, Smith & Prophete, LLP has relocated its Chicago office to the historic Civic Opera Building, home to the Lyric Opera House, to accommodate continued growth in the market. The firm has relocated to this larger space to occupy offices on the 41st floor of the 45-story office tower. After launching its presence in the Windy City in 2021 with the addition of Laura Balson, Constangy’s move to 20 North Wacker Drive offers attorneys and staff collaborative office space, excellent amenities and great views of the city.

“As we expand and elevate our services in Chicago, our move to the Civic Opera Building offers an amazing, flexible workspace for our growing team to collaborate and provide clients the high-level of legal service they have come to expect,” said Balson, who is managing partner of Constangy’s Chicago office and co-chair of the firm’s Whistleblower & Retaliation practice group. “We are committed to continued growth in Chicago to support our clients’ increasingly challenging legal needs, and this upgrade will be invaluable for our strategic efforts to continue attracting and retaining diverse, excellent legal talent in this competitive market.”

Since opening the office with Balson’s arrival in 2021, Constangy has added six additional attorneys in Chicago. Constangy officially moved into the new office on October 25.

In addition to sharing the building with the Lyric Opera House, North America’s second-largest opera auditorium, coveted amenities in the new space include a roof terrace with views of the city, additional meeting rooms, event space, collaborative work areas, local coffee, gym access, and close proximity to mass transit, dining, shopping and other hospitality options.

Bradford Allen’s Managing Director, Justin Kessler, represented the law firm on the transaction. Kathleen Bertrand of Transwestern represented the Civic Opera Building on the deal.
