Carolyn Ho of Constangy’s Cyber Team wrote an article about new data privacy laws in three states for the August 2024 issue of Cyber Defense Magazine. The article detailed three new state privacy laws in Texas, Oregon, and Florida that went into effect July 1.

“Many businesses are struggling with the daunting task of determining which laws apply to them and what they need to do to comply,” Ho said in the article. “Although there are many similarities between these laws, there are some nuances that businesses should take into consideration as they seek to update their external website documentation and internal compliance procedures.”

The New York-based attorney also identified that additional privacy laws will come into effect over the coming months and years in several more states, making it crucial that businesses consider how to adjust their privacy compliance programs.
