As the challenging confirmation process for Labor Secretary nominee Julie Su continues, David Steffen was quoted in the Tampa Bay Business Journal’s April 28 issue offering insight on the impact her policy record could have on businesses.
Most notably, Su was integral in passing California’s Assembly Bill 5, which has sparked concerns for businesses that are already rallying against the similarly expansive independent contractor classification rule proposed by the Labor Department. If Su sees AB5 as a national model in her potential new role, Steffen said Tampa employers would see that as potentially having a chilling effect on their ability to grow their businesses.
