Ken Sulzer and Steve Katz Speak to California Employment Law Council on PAGA Litigation

Constangy partners Ken Sulzer and Steve Katz recently spoke at the California Employment Law Council's Summer Educational Training Program. 

The California Employment Law Council is a non-profit organization that focuses on improving the legal climate for California employers. Ken and Steve presented an educational session on Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) litigation, which included strategies for litigation avoidance and defense.

Ken leads Constangy's California Class Actions practice group and is the managing partner for the firm's Los Angeles office. He focuses his practice on employment class actions, crisis management, and advising senior company officials. He has handled industry-defining cases, particularly in healthcare, hospitality, sports, real estate, and the outsourced economy. Ken is experienced in labor relations, discrimination litigation, trade secrets, non-compete issues, OSHA, DOL, and FLSA matters. He is frequently quoted by major media, serves as an expert witness, and has testified before legislative and regulatory bodies.

Steve chairs Constangy's Appellate practice group. He has been a state bar-certified appellate specialist for two decades and has handled nearly 100 appeal and writ proceedings for parties and amici before all levels of appellate courts across the country, including the U.S. and California Supreme Courts and half the federal circuits. Steve focuses his practice on wage and hour litigation and has defended employers at the trial level in more than 100 class, representative, and collective actions. He has considerable experience working with employers in retail sales, pharmaceuticals, information technology, food service, manufacturing, automotive, hospitality, education, defense, insurance, and professional sports.
