Amanda Novak Presents at OpenSSL Conference in Prague
Constangy senior counsel Amanda Novak will speak at the OpenSSL Conference, taking place October 13-15, 2026, in Prague, Czech Republic. Amanda will present “During a Breach: How Encryption is Evaluated by Regulators, Insurers, and Counsel” on October 13 from 16:05-16:45 CEST.
The OpenSSL Conference is a global meeting place for professionals who build, deploy, govern, and rely on secure digital infrastructure. The conference brings together developers, security engineers, researchers, policymakers, enterprises, legal and compliance professionals, and community contributors with a shared focus on strengthening open-source security.
During her session, Amanda will examine how regulators, insurers, and legal counsel evaluate encryption during data breach investigations. The discussion will address not only whether encryption was present, but also how it was implemented and whether it effectively protected sensitive or personal data. Amanda will cover the impact of encryption on breach notification obligations under U.S. law, potential implications for cyber insurance coverage, and the ways regulators and counsel assess encryption during breach investigations. Attendees will gain practical insight into the factors considered when determining whether encryption meaningfully reduces legal, regulatory, and financial risk.
