Five Constangy Attorneys Voted to Equity Partnership
Constangy is proud to announce that Laura Balson, Taren Greenidge, Darrick McDuffie, Ashley Orler, and Missy Spainhour have been selected as equity partners. Laura is managing partner of Constangy’s Chicago office and counsels employers on compliance, litigation prevention, and high-stakes employment disputes. She represents clients before federal, state, and local agencies and serves as lead trial counsel in state and federal courts, including appellate matters before the Seventh Circuit. Laura is widely recognized for her experience defending individual and class action claims under the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) and for providing practical, business-focused guidance on emerging workplace risks.
Taren is co-chair of the firm’s Workplace Investigations practice group and represents employers in litigation, compliance, and sensitive internal investigations. She defends claims involving harassment, discrimination, wage and hour issues, leave laws, and disability accommodation in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies. Taren also advises organizations on policy development and training initiatives and is active in civic leadership roles in her community.
Darrick is co-chair of the Trade Secrets & Unfair Competition practice group and focuses on workplace investigations and employment litigation defense. He represents employers in matters involving restrictive covenants, trade secrets, systemic EEOC claims, and wage and hour collective actions. Darrick partners with clients across industries to implement proactive compliance strategies and defend complex in courts nationwide.
Ashley is co-chair of Constangy’s AI practice group and advises employers on workplace compliance, risk management, and emerging technology issues. She counsels clients on day-to-day employment matters, conducts internal investigations, and defends litigation involving discrimination, wage and hour claims, restrictive covenants, and biometric privacy laws. Ashley also works with employers to navigate legal considerations surrounding artificial intelligence and evolving workplace technologies.
Missy represents employers in complex employment litigation and provides strategic counsel on workplace compliance and risk management. She defends claims involving discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour disputes, trade secrets, and restrictive covenants, and has extensive trial and appellate experience. A certified mediator, Missy also conducts independent workplace investigations and delivers training for managers and HR professionals.
