In the News: Cara Crotty Quoted in Lexology Pro on What Employers Should Know About the EEOC's Draft Strategic Plan
Cara Crotty, Constangy partner and co-chair of the firm's EEO/Contractor Compliance, Reporting, & Analytics and Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion practice groups, was recently quoted in Lexology Pro. The article examines the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's (EEOC) draft Strategic Plan for fiscal years 2026–2030 and what it signals for employers.
Discussing the draft plan, Cara noted that "it appears that the agency is now more interested in selecting fewer cases that produce broader workplace change than in simply increasing the number of systemic investigations." She also observed that while the plan should not materially change how employers prepare for discrimination issues, organizations that periodically evaluate employment outcomes are better positioned to identify issues early and make thoughtful adjustments before disputes arise. Additionally, Cara cautioned that the EEOC's increased emphasis on non-monetary remedies could create burdensome compliance obligations for employers.
