Lara de Leon Presents on Mental Health and Substance Abuse Issues at ALA Annual Conference
Constangy partner Lara de Leon will present at the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA)’s 2026 Annual Conference & Expo, hosted by the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA), taking place April 12–15 in National Harbor, Maryland.

Lara’s session, “Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Alcoholism – Issues (Legal) Employers Cannot Overlook,” will be held on April 14 from 2:15 to 3:15 PM. The session will examine the prevalence of mental health and substance abuse issues within the legal profession and the unique challenges contributing to these concerns. Participants will gain practical guidance on recognizing warning signs, addressing employee needs, understanding employer obligations related to accommodations, and navigating these complex legal, ethical, and workplace issues through real-world examples.

Lara de Leon is a partner with more than two decades of experience representing employers in employment law matters. She advises and defends companies in litigation, administrative proceedings, and appeals, with a focus on issues such as discrimination, retaliation, accommodations, and wage and hour compliance. Lara also counsels employers on pay equity, harassment, and leave-related matters, drawing on prior experience as in-house counsel for multinational companies to provide practical, business-oriented guidance. She is Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and is admitted to practice in Texas and California.
