Overview
Casey represents employers, public entities, and organizations in complex commercial and employment and labor matters, including discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, and related civil litigation, as well as being a registered mediator and arbitrator.
He brings extensive experience serving as lead counsel in high-stakes disputes, conducting internal investigations, advising on governance and compliance issues, and resolving matters through litigation, mediation, and arbitration, while continuing to represent counties, sheriffs, and municipalities in local government defense matters.
Prior to joining Constangy, Casey held senior roles in private practice and public service. He served as Commercial Litigation Counsel at a Georgia law firm, where he handled a broad range of employment and fiduciary disputes and defended local government clients—including counties, sheriffs, and municipalities—in complex civil litigation matters along with corporate clients on risk management and compliance. Casey also served as Assistant General Counsel with the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons, representing the agency in employment and labor law matters before the EEOC, MSPB, FLRA, DOL, and OSC. Earlier in his career, he was a partner at a Georgia law firm, representing employers, municipalities, and counties in employment, civil, and workers’ compensation matters, and served as City Solicitor and County Prosecutor. In addition, Casey has extensive experience as a mediator and arbitrator and is a member of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals.
Casey also serves as a Major and State Defense Counsel with the Georgia Air National Guard and previously served as an Assistant Staff Judge Advocate in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, advising on employment, ethics, and personnel matters. He earned his J.D. from Faulkner University, Thomas Goode Jones School of Law, where he received multiple CALI Awards, and his B.S. in Business Administration from The Citadel. Casey is admitted to practice in Georgia and South Carolina, as well as multiple federal courts.
