Overview
Ryan advises and represents employers in a broad range of labor and employment matters, with experience spanning litigation, workplace counseling, compliance strategy, and risk management.
Ryan regularly counsels employers on wage and hour compliance, employee classification, discrimination and harassment issues, disability accommodations and leaves of absence, workplace investigations, restrictive covenants, trade secrets, and employment-related agreements. He also advises clients on employment policies and procedures, severance arrangements, compensation matters, and employment-related due diligence in corporate transactions.
In his litigation practice, Ryan has represented employers in federal and state courts, arbitrations, and administrative proceedings involving class actions, PAGA claims, and single-plaintiff employment disputes. He has worked with clients across a variety of industries, including technology, entertainment, retail, hospitality, healthcare, professional services, and startup companies. Known for his practical and business-focused approach, Ryan partners closely with employers to develop effective legal strategies that align with operational goals and long-term compliance initiatives.
Before joining Constangy, Ryan practiced labor and employment law with several national management-side firms in Los Angeles, where he handled both litigation and day-to-day employment counseling matters.

Representative Matters
- Represented insurance company in a single plaintiff action regarding alleged discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wage and hour claims. Successfully obtained summary judgment for 11 of 13 causes of action, resulting in a nuisance value settlement thereafter.
- Represented former owners and corporate officers of financial services and lending company in wage and hour matter. Successfully obtained summary judgment of all claims against individual defendants under the Federal Labor Standards Act and California Labor Code.
