Overview

Sara is an experienced employment attorney who represents and advises employers on workplace litigation, employment law compliance, and risk management.

With a background in both private practice and in-house counsel roles, Sara brings a practical, business-minded perspective to helping employers navigate complex workplace challenges. She defends employers in state and federal courts, arbitrations, and administrative proceedings, while also providing proactive guidance to help clients minimize legal risks and make informed employment decisions.

Sara has extensive experience handling claims involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and other employment disputes. Her litigation experience includes trying discrimination and retaliation claims, arguing motions before state and federal courts, and developing strategies to enforce arbitration agreements. Sara works closely with employers to evaluate potential risks, develop effective defense strategies, and pursue resolutions that align with business objectives.

Before returning to private practice, Sara served as senior in-house labor and employment counsel for a publicly traded global information services company. In that role, she partnered with human resources professionals, business leaders, and other stakeholders to address day-to-day employment issues, develop workplace policies, and manage employment-related litigation. She also collaborated with legal counsel in Canada, Europe, and the United Kingdom on workforce initiatives, providing her with a broader perspective on the challenges facing employers with international operations.

Sara counsels employers on workplace investigations, employee discipline, leaves of absence and accommodations, reductions in force, and employment policies and procedures. Having worked alongside business leaders as in-house counsel, Sara understands the importance of balancing legal considerations with operational needs and strives to provide clear, actionable advice that helps employers move forward with confidence.

During law school, she served as an editor on the Kansas Law Review and interned for the Honorable John W. Lungstrum of the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas.
