Come join four of our Chicago attorneys for a complimentary seminar for clients and friends of the firm about the most pressing issues facing employers today!

Topic: How Do We Know If We Are Paying People Correctly?

Between pressure from inflation, to anticipated changes to the federal overtime rules, to new state laws enforcing equal pay, the landscape for employers to be sure that they are properly paying their employees has become even more complex. These factors are layered on top of the already intricate rules regarding how to pay for on-call time, time spent traveling, reimbursement for work related expenses and, in Chicago, paying employees for changes to weekly schedules under the Fair Workweek Ordinance. There has also been an increase in pay audits by the U.S. Department of Labor - the DOL conducts investigations for a number of reasons, and they do not typically disclose the reason for an investigation. Many are initiated by complaints but the name of the worker and the nature of the complaint are not shared with the employer. In addition to complaints, the DOL selects certain types of businesses or industries for investigation, including low-wage industries, for example, or where there are rapid changes in an industry such as growth or decline.

Join us to make sure that your organization is prepared to respond to an audit before the government shows up at your door and get answers to your most complicated wage payment questions.
