Constangy Adds Former Amazon Corporate Counsel for Incident Response, Lindsey Smith, to Bolster National Incident Response Team

Press Room

Constangy is pleased to announce that Lindsey Smith, CIPP/US, CIPT, and former Corporate Counsel for Incident Response at Amazon, has joined the firm’s Cybersecurity & Data Privacy Practice as a partner. He is based in Baltimore, Maryland, and will enhance the firm’s incident response team with his extensive experience managing responses to a wide variety of cyberattacks.

Prior to joining Constangy, Smith served as Corporate Counsel for Incident Response at Amazon for over two years, managing internal security teams in preparation for and during the incident response process. This included developing programs to mitigate cyber risk, negotiating vendor contracts, and drafting data privacy policies to ensure compliance with U.S. and global privacy laws. Prior to serving as Corporate Counsel for Incident Response at Amazon, Smith worked with the Constangy team managing responses to data security incidents for over four years at another firm.

“We are excited to welcome Lindsey as the latest example of our focus on adding highly talented and experienced attorneys to serve clients around the country,” said Neil Wasser, chair of the executive committee at Constangy. “The unique insight from his experience at such a large and respected organization in Amazon, combined with his proven track record for effective counsel in cyber incident response, make him a valuable asset for guiding clients in such a crucial area for their businesses.”

Smith earned his law degree at Northeastern University School of Law, and his undergraduate degree in History and English from the University of Georgia. He is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and the District of Columbia. Smith also holds the Certified Information Privacy Professional for United States laws (CIPP/US) and Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT) credentials from the International Associate of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
