Constangy partner Robin Shea was quoted in a Jan. 17 HR Dive article regarding a webinar she recently presented on remote work causing Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) administration to become more challenging.

The article details how “remote work makes FMLA administration ‘much more challenging,’ as FMLA-eligible remote employees may be inclined to check emails or perform other tasks that would otherwise be considered part of their job — while they’re on FMLA leave,” which should be non-working time.

Shea has more than 30 years’ experience in employment litigation, including Title VII and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act, the Equal Pay Act, and the Family and Medical Leave Act. She also provides preventive advice to employers and conducts training for human resources professionals, management, and employees on a wide variety of topics.
