Constangy Partners with PLUS to Develop New Cyber Insurance Digital Forensics Professional Designation Program
Constangy is pleased to announce the launch of the Cyber Insurance Digital Forensics Professional (CIDFP) designation program, developed by the firm's Cybersecurity & Data Privacy team in partnership with the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS). The new program is designed to provide cyber insurance professionals with practical knowledge and skills to navigate increasingly complex cybersecurity incidents, digital forensics investigations, and cyber insurance claims.
The CIDFP designation program brings together legal, technical, and insurance perspectives to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals, incident response, ransomware, digital forensics, and the legal and regulatory considerations associated with cyber incidents. The curriculum emphasizes real-world applications, helping professionals strengthen their ability to evaluate cyber risks, manage claims, and make informed decisions throughout the incident response process.
Several Constangy Cyber Team attorneys will serve as faculty for the program, including Sean Hoar, Chair of Constangy's Cybersecurity & Data Privacy Practice, along with partners Lynda Jensen and Aubrey Weaver. Drawing on their extensive experience advising organizations through complex cyber incidents, the attorneys will share practical insights into incident response, ransomware, business email compromise, and other emerging cybersecurity challenges.
"Cyber incidents require coordination among legal counsel, forensic investigators, insurers, and other stakeholders, often under extraordinary time pressure," said Sean. "We developed this program with PLUS to help cyber insurance professionals better understand the technical and legal complexities of these incidents and strengthen their ability to respond effectively. We're excited to share our experience and contribute to the continued development of the cyber insurance industry."
The hybrid program combines self-paced, on-demand educational sessions with live faculty Q&A webinars and an interactive, in-person capstone experience. The program concludes on March 1, 2027, in New York City, where participants will work through a simulated ransomware incident, navigating coverage decisions, negotiations, regulatory obligations, and other critical aspects of a cyber insurance claim.
By bringing together experienced professionals from the legal, cybersecurity, and insurance industries, the CIDFP designation program provides a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between technical incident response and insurance claims management.
The program's development reflects Constangy's ongoing commitment to advancing cybersecurity education, strengthening collaboration across the cyber insurance ecosystem, and helping organizations navigate an increasingly complex cyber risk landscape.
