Constangy Presents Webinar on Avoiding Legal Risks During the Holiday Season with PTO, Overtime, and Workplace Festivities

Constangy attorneys Rodrigo Pocasangre and Kristine Sims presented a webinar on Dec. 3 on avoiding holiday headaches and the heightened legal risks employers face related to employee time off, overtime, and seasonal celebrations. SHRM and HRCI credits were offered for this program.

This webinar covered best practices for managing holiday PTO requests, handling overtime requirements, and hosting workplace gatherings that don’t lead to liability.

Rodrigo has a well-rounded knowledge base because he has practiced in several different practice areas such as criminal defense, general litigation, and employment law. Rodrigo has experience in multiple courts including trial level state and federal courts and he has also appeared before the North Carolina Court of Appeals and the North Carolina Supreme Court. Because he previously practiced criminal defense, Rodrigo has actual courtroom experience derived from being in court almost every day for over a decade.

Kristine is the head of the Winston-Salem office with experience involving every aspect of the employment relationship. She has been involved in complex litigation involving class action issues, the FLSA, all aspects of Title VII, retaliatory discharge, and state law claims for breach of contract, fraud, negligence, infliction of emotional distress, and covenants not to compete. In addition to her employment litigation practice, she has significant experience in the area of affirmative action compliance including affirmative action plan training, preparation, and compliance review defense at the desk audit and on-site stages. Before joining Constangy, Kristine was an Assistant Attorney General, Appellate Division, for the State of West Virginia.
