Overview
Ben helps employers navigate complex workplace litigation and appeals with a focus on efficiency, strategy, and minimizing risk.
Ben defends employers in a wide range of employment-related matters, including wage and hour class and collective actions, restrictive covenant and trade secret disputes, and high-stakes, multi-employee litigation. He regularly appears in state and federal courts to argue dispositive and procedural motions and has experience guiding matters from pre-suit risk assessment and strategy through discovery, trial, and final appeal. Ben also advises employers on drafting and enforcing employment agreements, including provisions addressing confidentiality and protection of proprietary and trade secret information.
In addition to traditional employment litigation, Ben advises and litigates employment-adjacent business disputes, including breach of contract, agency, and fiduciary duty claims, as well as business-related discrimination and retaliation matters. His practice often sits at the intersection of employment law and commercial litigation, allowing him to address workforce disputes with a broader business lens.
Ben has significant appellate experience across multiple jurisdictions, including drafting and arguing appellate briefs and advising trial teams on issue preservation. His appellate work includes authoring an amicus brief before the Illinois Supreme Court addressing the proper calculation of overtime wages under Illinois law.
Ben serves as an adjunct professor for the Loyola University Chicago Wagner Labor and Employment Moot Court Team and is a member of Rainbow Railroad, where he supports LGBTQ+ asylum seekers by providing immigration and housing resources. Ben was also recently selected to serve on Lambda Legal’s Chicago Leadership Council and actively contributes to firmwide diversity, equity, inclusion, and community service initiatives.
