Still no Director at OFCCP

Reports of a new Director at the OFCCP were premature.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Craig E. Leen is NOT being named Director of the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs, as had been reported by some outside sources. Instead, he will be a "senior advisor" within the agency.

Mr. Leen was most recently the City Attorney of Coral Gables, Florida and was also an adjunct professor of Local Government, Evidence, and Legal Skills at the Florida International University College of Law, where Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta previously served as Dean.

Before becoming the City Attorney of Coral Gables, a position he held since 2011, Mr. Leen was an assistant county attorney in the Miami-Dade County Attorney’s office, where he was the chief of the federal litigation and appeals sections.  Mr. Leen also worked in the private sector for a number of firms including, Morgan, Lewis & Bockius in Miami; Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in Boston; and Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton in New York.  Mr. Leen earned his law degree from Columbia Law School and his bachelor’s degree in government and economics from Georgetown University.

While we continue to wait for a new Director, we look forward to seeing what focus and direction Mr. Leen adds to an agency that has recently been the subject of harsh criticism.  Stay tuned . . . .
