Constangy Appoints Jonathan Martin as Office Managing Partner in Macon

National employment law firm Constangy, Brooks, Smith & Prophete, LLP is pleased to announce the appointment of W. Jonathan Martin, II as office managing partner in Macon, Ga.

Outside of his firm leadership role, Martin has a long track record as a recognized leader in labor and employment law, both in Georgia and on the national stage. Among the numerous professional organizations and roles he has served during his career, Martin is the former chairman of the State Bar of Georgia’s Employers’ Duties & Problems Committee and a past chair of the Executive Committee of the Georgia Department of Labor’s Georgia Employer Committee. He currently serves on the American Bar Association’s Committee on Development of Law under the NLRA, and he is on the boards of directors for the Georgia Employers Association and the Federal Defenders of the Middle District of Georgia, Inc. In the community, Martin served on the board of directors for Good Vocations, Inc., an organization dedicated to providing job skill training for individuals with disabilities from 2010-2022. He is also active on the Staff-Parrish Relations Committee at Vineville United Methodist Church and on the board of directors for Wesley Glen Ministries.

Additionally, Martin is a Colonel in the Georgia Air National Guard and previously served as a military lawyer in the Air Force Judge Advocate General’s Corp. He has also held an appointment as a Special Assistant United States Attorney, representing the United States in United States Magistrate Court for the Middle District of Georgia.

In his legal practice, Martin counsels clients on employment discrimination litigation for management, defending corporations in lawsuits arising under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), and the American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA), as well as related state laws. He also represents management in traditional labor law issues under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) and in wage and hour issues under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Martin has also been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America© for the last three years.

Martin received his law degree from Mercer University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia.
