Kim Seten Presents at the 38th Annual Heartland Labor and Employment Law Institute
Constangy partner Kim Seten will present at the 38th Annual Heartland Labor and Employment Law Institute on May 28, 2026, in Overland Park, Kansas, with a virtual webinar attendance option also available. The conference is hosted by the Society for Human Resource Management of Greater Kansas City, the Society for Human Resource Management of Johnson County, and the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law.
The 38th Annual Heartland Labor & Employment Law Conference is the region’s premier alliance of human resources, academic, and legal advisors promoting workplace excellence. The conference brings together professionals to discuss current labor and employment law developments and practical workplace issues affecting employers and HR professionals.
Kim will lead a session titled “Managing Employee Data Privacy Risks in the Modern Workplace,” taking place from 1:30–2:20 p.m. Attendees will gain insight into the current legal landscape governing employee and applicant data, including multi-state privacy laws, biometric data requirements, workplace monitoring issues, and emerging enforcement trends. The session will also address best practices for data collection, retention, incident response, and cross-functional coordination with HR and IT to help employers manage evolving data privacy obligations and minimize legal risk.

Kim Seten is the Managing Partner of Constangy’s Kansas City office, where she advises employers on workplace compliance, employment litigation, and labor relations strategy. She represents employers nationwide in matters involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, ADA violations, wage and hour claims, and class and collective actions under statutes including the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Kim also handles appellate matters and advises employers on union organizing campaigns, collective bargaining, grievance arbitrations, and proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board. She works closely with in-house counsel and HR teams to develop practical, business-focused solutions tailored to each client’s workplace needs.
